In recent years, films have emerged as a powerful tool for influencing policy, shaping public opinion, and driving social change—through compelling, empathy-evoking stories and characters, and by using unique strategic outreach methods. The global film industry increasingly relies on measurable strategic processes and impact professionals to generate wide-scale, systemic social change.
Initiated by CoPro and ALBI Fund, the IMPACT capsule is a program dedicated to guiding filmmakers in creating impact campaigns for films with the potential to inspire change and action.
The program’s mission is to empower filmmakers and producers to work in the field of impact and to serve as a bridge between the film industry, the nonprofit sector, the private sector policymakers—enabling strategic partnerships and expanding audience reach. Each year, 5 projects from a variety of genres are selected, focusing on topics such as human rights and social justice, environment, health and wellbeing, diversity and gender/social equality, youth and at-risk communities, and LGBTQ+ issues.
Participants work alongside education, public, and community partners in Israel and abroad to develop integrated strategies aimed at fostering openness, broadening perspectives, inspiring activism, engaging with decision-makers, and sparking dialogue on key social and ethical issues. Over the course of the program, filmmakers learn to define their film’s core issue, apply strategic models, and develop a theory of change to achieve meaningful public impact.
The program includes personalized mentorship and guidance for each project, as well as the development of a comprehensive impact and distribution strategy. This involves in-depth research, audience and stakeholder mapping, and the creation of tailored screening plans, events, and supplementary materials to deliver the film’s message as effectively and accessibly as possible.
The process culminates in a high-profile final event, where participants present their projects and strategies to an audience of senior leaders and decision-makers from the social and civic sectors—encouraging collaborations and investments in their impact campaigns.
